After spending two and a half hours at the doctor this morning, we’re still not sure what’s going on with E’s beautiful skin. It’s all blotchy, raised, and angry looking. And that’s when he’s smiling. (You should see him when I don’t get the food in his mouth fast enough.)
Basically, the doctor said he may have an allergy to amoxicillin, but they’re not sure because the reaction is atypical. (Leave it to my kids to be anything but normal!)
We’re thinking the rash is eczema, but that could be caused by the medicine too. Or it could be totally unrelated. To be on the safe side, the doc put a note in his chart stating that he has a possible allergy and they won’t prescribe it to him anymore. We left with the proper dosage for Benadryl – which is safe to give him – and some prescription cream for his skin. Hopefully it’ll all be cleared up in a few days.
And when they weighed my 8-month-old baby, he’s over 20 pounds now. Geez. How did that happen??!! Wasn’t he just born?
